-=Game 28 : Gerrard nets derby hat-tricks=-

Liverpool 3 - 0 Everton

Liv : Gerrard (34'), (51'), (90')

In the broader scheme of things, they remain well off the pace, 10 points adrift of fourth place and 25 behind Manchester United. Yet they claimed a clean sheet, with Jamie Carragher proving steady on his return to the side and Kelly excellent. Cautious early on, the right-back started to advance and exploit Victor Anichebe's lack of defensive diligence and twice came close to scoring. Less auspiciously, neither Stewart Downing nor Jordan Henderson excelled. Charlie Adam, shocking at Sunderland, was deservedly dropped. - Richard Jolly

-=Game 27 : Liverpool luckless at Black Cats=-

Sunderland 1 - 0 Liverpool

Sun : Bendtner (56')

"We will say what we said at the very first game of the season - we will play all the matches, count the points up and see where we finish then. - King Kenny

-=Game 26 : RVP downs profligate Liverpool=-

Liverpool 1 - 2 Arsenal

Liv : Koscielny (og 23') :: Ars : Van Persie (31'), (90')

''I think it's rewarding to play a team like Arsenal and play as well as we have done, being so dominant in the first half. The scoreline doesn't really reflect the game. We were beaten because we didn't score enough goals. Van Persie's a fantastic footballer, no doubt about that. But we did enough to win that game. - King Kenny

Cardiff City (2)2 - 2(3) Liverpool

Cardiff : Mason (19'), Turner (118') :: Liverpool : Skrtel (60'), Kuyt (108')

"It was always going to be that one of us was sad and one celebrating. I've got mixed emotions. Obviously I'm delighted to win the cup for our supporters, but I feel for Anthony and Cardiff." - Stevie G

-=FA Cup 5th Round : Three own goals aid Liverpool=-

Liverpool 6 - 1  Brighton

Liv : Skrtel (5'), Bridcutt (og 44'),(og 71'), Carroll (57'), Dunk (og 74'), Suárez (85') :: Bri :  LuaLua (17')

Dalglish had said Carling Cup final places were at stake and his side responded accordingly. Carroll delivered one of his best displays for the club while Downing was much improved after his nightmare at Old Trafford last week. Daniel Agger and Craig Bellamy were both absent with minor injuries but should be fit for next Sunday's date at Wembley. If so, Jamie Carragher and one other will have to drop out. - Richard Jolly

-=Game 25 : Rooney double overshadowed by feud=-

Manchester United 2 - 1 Liverpool

ManU : Rooney (47'), (50') :: Liv : Suárez (80')

"I couldn't believe, I just could not believe it. Patrice told me this morning, 'I'm going to shake his hand, I've nothing to be ashamed of.' But then Suarez refuses. He's a disgrace to Liverpool Football Club" -Sir Alex Ferguson

-=Game 24 : Liverpool held to another draw=-

Liverpool 0 - 0 Tottenham Hotspur

"We are in a better position than we were last year," Dalglish said. It is true, but they are in seventh place and, while their excellent record against the sides above them remains intact - it is now only two defeats in 12 - it is harder to dismiss the draws as simple misfortune. Some of the positives came from the younger players with Spearing proving efficient and Kelly excellent, but while Dalglish is an exponent of squad rotation, a consistent winning formula in midfield and attack remains elusive. - Richard Jolly

-=Game 23 : Carroll on song in Reds romp=-

Wolves 0 - 3 Liverpool

Liv : Carroll (52'), Bellamy (61'), Kuyt (78')

Wolves' latest defeat, at the hands of Liverpool, was the 20th consecutive game in which the team failed to keep a clean sheet. Frankly, that's pathetic. - Daniel Pountney

-=FA Cup 4th Round : Kuyt strike sinks United=-

Liverpool 2 - 1 Manchester United

Liv : Agger (21'),
Kuyt (88') :: ManU : Ji-Sung (39')

Liverpool duly extended their unbeaten run at home to United to five matches, making up for some of the hurt felt after their third-round exit at Old Trafford a year ago in what was manager Kenny Dalglish's first match back in his second spell in charge. - Soccernet

-=Carling Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg : Reds heading to Wembley=-

Liverpool 2 - 2 Manchester City

3 - 2 (Agg)

Liv : Gerrard (pen 41'), Bellamy (74') :: Mct : De Jong (31'), Dzeko (67')

Craig Bellamy - Quite apart from the wonderfully composed finish, it was an extraordinary physical effort from a player who normally struggles to play back-to-back games. Bellamy hassled and harried the City defence mercilessly in an inspired display. The standing ovation he got was fully merited. - Richard Jolly

-=Game 22 : Bolton shock Reds=-

Bolton Wanderers 3 - 1 Liverpool

Bol : Davies (3'), Reo-Coker (29'), Steinsson (50') :: Liv : Bellamy (37')

"There's nobody been at this football club that's not had respect for other people. If that is what the problem was then, that they thought this game wasn't as important a game as the next one, then fine but they'll not be here. The key now for us is not to repeat what we've done." - King Kenny

-=Game 21 : Toothless Reds held at home again=-

Liverpool 0 - 0 Stoke City

Too negative from the start, their caution cost them. It was a display to highlight the lack of regular goalscorers in a side the starting 11 only had eight in the league this season and with Craig Bellamy presumably not deemed able to start three days after the victory at Manchester City, it should have been a stage for Carroll. It makes his initial omission all the odder and his £35 million move appear all the more misguided. Meanwhile Downing, who was removed, was again overshadowed by Enrique. The Spaniard seems to beat defenders with rather more ease than the specialist winger. -Richard Jolly

-=Carling Cup Semi Final 1st Leg : Reds overcome sorry City=-

Manchester City 0 - 1 Liverpool

Liv : Gerrard (pen 13')

Dominant at the start, determined at the end, they could enjoy the result even if there was the sense that, by going on the defensive, they invited pressure. Jay Spearing suffered a hamstring injury, but Dalglish did not think it was serious. Indirectly, it led to Carragher's unexpected deployment. The veteran's career began in midfield 15 years ago. Now it came full circle. -Richard Jolly

-=FA Cup Third Round : Gerrard marks return with goal=-

Liverpool 5 - 1 Oldham Athletic

Liv : Bellamy (30'), Gerrard (pen 45'), Shelvey (68'),

Carroll (89'), Downing (90') :: Old : Simpson (28')

Late in the second half Adeyemi appeared to take offence to something shouted from the Kop and despite reassurance from his team-mates, Kuyt and Gerrard, the 20-year-old right-back, on loan from Bradford, seemed visibly upset.

-=Game 20 : City move three points clear=-

Manchester City 3 - 0 Liverpool

Manc : Agüero (10'), Touré (33'), Milner (pen 75')

It was intriguing that, for the third successive game, Gerrard replaced Charlie Adam, a trend that suggests the Scot is at threat from the captain's return. He was the major culprit as, not for the first time, Liverpool's set-pieces were poor. While it is hard for Bellamy to play two games in a week, the chance to give him a rest in Friday's FA Cup tie against Oldham perhaps could have prompted his inclusion. He improved Liverpool when he did come on. - Richard Jolly-

-=Game 19 : Reds see off Toon=-

Liverpool 3 - 1 Newcastle United

Liv : Bellamy (29') (67), Gerrard (78') :: New : Agger (og 25')

"I think of late we haven't got what we deserved, we've put a lot of pressure on teams, played well and come away without maximum points, so it's really pleasing to get three points and also score three goals, because we've had a bit of criticism for not scoring enough goals." - Stevie G-

-=Game 18 : Reds held by resilient Rovers=-

Liverpool 1 - 1 Blackburn Rovers

Liv : Rodríguez (53') :: Bla : Adam (og 45')

''We did more than enough to win, created more than enough chances to win the game. The performance could have been a touch better but I have no complaints". - King Kenny

-=Game 17 : Latics frustrate Suarez's Reds=-

As if to press home their message, every player, including the striker himself, wore white T-shirts with the image of a celebrating Suarez in red on the front and the player's name and number seven on the back. - Liverpool FC

-=Game 14 : Dempsey downs 10-man Liverpool=-

Fulham 1 - 0 Liverpool

Ful :  Dempsey (85')

"You see them sometimes get a red card, other times they get away with it. The problem everybody has is the level of interpretation - that's not consistent. - King Kenny

-=Carling Cup Quarter Final : Chelsea dumped out by Liverpool=-

Chelsea 0 - 2 Liverpool

Liv : Rodriguez (58'), Kelly (63')

The Scot described the competition as "a cup that's been cheapened by the actions of people that run it", before sarcastically adding that a berth in a two-legged semi-final means "at least we'll have the chance to play at home" - in reference to Liverpool's four successive away ties so far this season. - King Kenny

-=Game 11 : Carroll woe as Reds draw blank=-

Liverpool 0 - 0 Swansea City

"That is ten times we have hit the post or the bar this season. Maybe if the chance goes in it may have changed the complexion of the game but as well as paying credit to Swansea we have to look at ourselves." - King Kenny

-=Game 10 : Reds Down Hodgson's Baggies=-

West Bromwich Albion 0 - 2 Liverpool

Liv : Adam (pen 9'), Carroll (45')

''It put us under pressure and we weren't good enough to respond. He (Suarez) is very good at winning penalties. He's one of the best on the planet, in fact. I had a good view of it. If that's a penalty, then you will find 1,500 penalties are given in every match".

-=Carling Cup Round 4 : Luis at the double=-

Stoke City 1 - 2 Liverpool

Sto : Jones (44') :: Liv : Suárez (54', 85')

''I thought Liverpool were the better team in the first half, they played much better than us, they looked brighter, (Andy) Carroll and Suarez caused problems and we didn't get to grips with it. To come in 1-0 at half-time was very generous for us. -Tony Pulis

-=Game 9 : Holt denies Liverpool=-

Liverpool 1 - 1 Norwich City

Liv : Bellamy (45') :: Nor : Holt (60')

Dalglish added: "There's a lot of disappointment because the boys have played really well. I don't think the point is a reflection on how well they've played. As I said, if they continue to play like that they'll win a lot more games than we lose." - King Kenny

Everton 0 - 2 Liverpool

Liv : Carroll (71'), Suárez (82')

"I would have been disappointed if it had been a free-kick and if he had given a yellow card you would have said 'what is that for?'. It would have been hard playing Liverpool 11 v 11 - it was a really tough game for us and it became tougher." - David Moyes

-=Game 6 : Liverpool Labour to Victory=-

Liverpool 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers

Liv : Roger Johnson (og 11'), Luis Suárez (38') :: Wol : Steven Fletcher (49')

"The debate about Dalglish's strongest side continues. Downing was excellent and Carroll justified his selection, but the case for Jordan Henderson is weaker. When fully fit, Gerrard should slot in alongside Lucas, but the defence does not yet look watertight" -Richard Jolly
